Health and fitness is the 47th most popular degree in America, with 10,378 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #48 International Relations and Affairs, and narrowly lost to #46 Fitness Administration.

The degree is offered at a total of 279 colleges across the nation, and is the 81st most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 6% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 64% of colleges offering health and fitness are public making it a quite accessible field.

The far west produces the most health and fitness graduates, largely led by California State University-Fullerton, while it’s the California Collegiate Athletic Association that leads conference totals. As far as states, California ranks highest, with particular help from California State University-Fullerton and California State University-Northridge.

All that being said, no individual school produces more health and fitness graduates than Arizona Western College, which graduated 479 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study health and fitness). More students studied health and fitness as a percentage of total students at Martin Methodist College than any other college.
