If you think life as a health club manager, corporate fitness director, or professional sports coach sounds interesting, then a degree in fitness administration may just be for you. You could even become a head coach for an olympic swimming team!
Fitness administration is the 46th most popular degree in America, with 10,554 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #47 Health and Fitness, and narrowly lost to #45 Radio, Television, and Digital Communication.
The degree is offered at a total of 493 colleges across the nation, and is the 41st most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 7% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that more or less 3 in every 8 colleges offering fitness administration are public making it a relatively inaccessible field.
The southeast produces the most fitness administration graduates, largely led by Florida State University, while it’s the Southeastern Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Ohio ranks highest, with particular help from University of Cincinnati-Main Campus and Miami University-Oxford.
All that being said, no individual school produces more fitness administration graduates than Jacksonville State University, which graduated 210 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study fitness administration). More students studied fitness administration as a percentage of total students at Webber International University than any other college.
We wish you luck finding the right college for you. We hope you enjoy Authority's 2022 official Best Colleges for Fitness Administration list. Some of our picks may surprise you!
