POPULARITY
Athletic training is the 100th most popular degree in America, with 3,597 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #101 Foods, Nutrition, and Related Services, and narrowly lost to #99 Exercise Physiology.
The degree is offered at a total of 347 colleges across the nation, and is the 65th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 6% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 53% of colleges offering athletic training are public making it a pretty accessible field.
The southeast produces the most athletic training graduates, largely led by The University of Alabama, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Pennsylvania ranks highest, with particular help from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Temple University.
All that being said, no individual school produces more athletic training graduates than Northern Arizona University, which graduated 117 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study athletic training). More students studied athletic training as a percentage of total students at Bryan University than any other college.
