SPECIAL EDUCATION AND TEACHING DEGREES

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

In general, special education and teaching is a shade more popular than the average area of study at the undergraduate level. The typical discipline grants 6,156 bachelor's degrees per year; last spring, 8,866 people earned four-year degrees in special education and teaching, making it the 57th most popular major in the United States of America. 645 of those degrees were awarded by Western Governors University, which proudly has the biggest program in the nation. 920 of those degrees were granted at institutions in Utah.

Four-year degrees in special education and teaching are offered at 541 colleges coast-to-coast; therefore, it might be difficult to determine the right school. There are 2.8 institutions offering bachelor's degrees in special education and teaching for every institution offering the average degree, making it the 38th most universally offered U.S. degree.

GRADUATE DEGREES

While a bit below 1 in 3 degrees in special education and teaching last year were undergraduate degrees; 67% were advanced degrees. Special education and teaching is the 11th most popular grad degree in the United States of America, with 18,270 degrees granted. To put that in context, grad degrees in special education and teaching are 6.6 times more popular among master's & doctor's students than the average field.

In Total, 27,136 students received a bachelor's or higher in special education and teaching last year.

ONLINE SPECIAL EDUCATION AND TEACHING DEGREES

6,925 of those 27,136 graduates (25.5%) were awarded their degrees completely remotely - 1,059 undergraduate students and 5,866 postgrad students. As you presumably know by now, numerous undergrads decide to study special education and teaching comprehensively remote. It is the 29th most popular remote degree, and 120% north of the nation's average of 481 students per discipline. For postgrads, it is ranked 7th, with 9.5 times the average number of postgraduate students per discipline (481).

Western Governors University granted the most online undergrad degrees in special education and teaching in the nation (645). Last fall, 98,630 college students were attending the school remotely, 100% of their students. They offer 30 exclusively online subjects. That's 100% of their subjects.

Furthermore, Utah graduates more special education and teaching online students than any other state (645 bachelor's degrees awarded last year). The state accounts for 61% of the major's remote students.

11.9% of all undergraduate degrees in special education and teaching are completed remote, (32.1% for postgraduate degrees). Granite State College's last undergraduate class had the most dense population of online special education and teaching majors in America (4.72%). 17 students in their 354 student class received an online four-year degree in special education and teaching. They offer 100% of their degrees online, and had 1,520 enrolled online undergrads last fall. That's 88% of the student body.

44 schools coast-to-coast award four-year degrees in completely online programs, making it the 38th most commonly offered remote degree in the United States. 8% of schools giving out the degree even have an online option, and 45% of the institutions awarding the degree remotely are public. Florida has the most online programs of any state, with 3 institutions to choose from.

If you hope to study special education and teaching and don't enjoy person-to-person interaction, you might want to view the University of Georgia, as it has the 11th best special education and teaching program in the nation. It also provides an additional 28 degrees online, so their systems are likely strong. Moreover, there are 214 remote undergraduate students attending, which is 1% of their whole student body.
