PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREES
UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES
Photography is an exceedingly unpopular subject. An average concentration grants 6,156 bachelor's degrees per annum; 1,219 people last spring received an undergraduate degree in photography, making it the 194th most popular subject across the country. Savannah College of Art and Design accounted for more of those degrees than any other American school (82), and institutions in New York gave out more degrees than any U.S. State (325).
Deciding on the best school for you is frequently challenging, given that 131 institutions nationally have bachelor's degrees in photography. 31.7% fewer colleges offer four-year degrees in photography than the average major, making it the 128th most commonly offered U.S. area of study.
GRADUATE DEGREES
While 83% of last year's degrees in photography were undergrad degrees; 17% were advanced degrees. Photography is the 236th most popular postgraduate degree in the United States of America, with 255 degrees conferred. To put that in context, the average subject is 10.9 times more popular among master's & doctor's students than photography.
In Total, 1,474 students received a bachelor's or higher in photography last year.
ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREES
95 of those 1,474 alumni (6.4%) earned their degrees totally remotely - 62 undergraduates and 33 postgrads. As you've probably gathered, it is rather rare to find an undergrad student majoring in photography online. It's at the moment the 145th most popular online degree, and 87.1% shy of the American average of 481 students per subject. For postgrad students, it is ranked 184th, and is 94.6% shy of the nation's average (616).
Southern New Hampshire University conferred more online undergrad degrees in photography than any other institution in the United States of America (37). Last fall, 86,849 undergraduates were enrolled in the institution remotely, 93% of their student body. They offer 35 completely online disciplines, which is 56% of their majors.
Further, New Hampshire graduates more photography online students than any other state (37 undergraduate degrees conferred last spring). New Hampshire alone graduates 60% of the country's online students.
5.1% of all undergraduate degrees in photography are completed online, (12.9% for postgrad degrees). 2.12% of Academy of Art University's last undergraduate class studied photography remote, higher than any other institution in the USA. 20 students in their 965 student class were conferred an online college degree in photography. They offer 33 areas of study online, and had 2,911 enrolled online undergraduates last fall. That's 43% of the student body.
3 schools nationwide grant four-year degrees via remote programs, making it the 128th most commonly offered online course of study in the nation. One 50th of institutions granting the degree even have a completely remote option, and all schools providing bachelor's degrees in photography are private.
If you desire to study photography and are capable of self motivation, you may want to view Savannah College of Art and Design, as it has the 2nd best photography program in the country. It also hands out an additional 18 degrees entirely remotely, so their systems are probably reliable. Furthermore, there are 598 remote undergrad students attending, which is 5% of their student body.
