PHILOSOPHY DEGREES

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

Philosophy is a little more popular than the average major among college students. On average, each area of study grants around 6,200 annual bachelor's degrees; 8,093 people completed a four-year degree in philosophy last May, making it the USA's 62nd most popular major. 192 of those students are now alumni of one college, the University of Pennsylvania. 1,161 of those alumni came out of institutions from California.

It can be challenging to decide the right college, due to the fact that bachelor's degrees in philosophy are available at 816 colleges in the USA. Philosophy is the 109th most popular advanced degree in the nation, with 1,236 degrees conferred. For context, philosophy is 55% less popular among postgrad students than the average subject.

In Total, 9,329 students received a bachelor's or higher in philosophy last May.

The other 31% are private. Arizona has the most exclusively online programs of any state, with 2 schools to choose from.

If you would like to study philosophy fully remotely, you might want to check out the University of Arizona, as it has the 94th best philosophy program in the USA.
