LITERATURE DEGREES

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

It's rather unique to find an American undergrad majoring in literature. Each subject grants around 6,156 annual undergrad degrees; last year, 574 people received an undergraduate degree in literature, making it the USA's 263rd most popular focus for undergraduates. 121 of those degrees were conferred by New York University, which boasts having the biggest department in America, and 294 of those degrees were conferred at colleges in New York.

Undergrad degrees in literature are available at 62 institutions in the nation; so, choosing the right program for you can often be challenging. Four-year degrees in the typical field are awarded at 3.1 times more colleges than degrees in literature, making it the 237th most universally offered degree.

GRADUATE DEGREES

While last spring, narrowly over 3/4 of degrees in literature were undergrad degrees; 24% were grad degrees. Literature is the 263rd most popular graduate degree in the USA, with 182 degrees awarded. To put that in context, the average subject is 15.2 times more popular among master's & doctor's students than literature.

In Total, 756 students received a bachelor's or higher in literature last spring.

ONLINE LITERATURE DEGREES

17 of those 756 students (2.2%) finished their schooling online - 15 undergrad students and 2 postgrad students. As you probably can tell, very few college students choose to study literature online. It's currently the 203rd most popular remote subject, and 96.9% below the U.S. average of 481 students per subject. For master's & doctor's students, it ranks 294th, and is 99.7% under the national average (616).

Grand Canyon University awarded more online undergrad degrees in literature than any other U.S. school (13).

Furthermore, Arizona graduates more literature online students than any other state (13 bachelor's degrees granted last May). By itself, the state graduates 87% of the US' online students.

Just 2.6% of all four-year degrees in literature are completed through online programs, (1.1% for postgraduate degrees). Grand Canyon University's last undergraduate class had the most dense population of online literature majors in the USA (0.11%).

3 institutions across the nation offer bachelor's degrees in a remote program, making it the 237th most commonly available remote major in the country. 5% of schools granting the degree even have an online option, and 0% of the schools that have the degree online are public. The other 100% are private.

If you dream to study literature and like learning at your own pace, you should consider applying to Grand Canyon University, as it has the 20th best literature program in the USA. It also has an additional 88 degrees remotely, so their systems are likely dialed. Moreover, 40,001 online undergraduate students attend the institution, which is 68% of the undergraduate population.
