 For a college subject, environmental science is moderately popular. Each area of study confers close to 6,000 four-year degrees per year; 7,289 people last May received an undergrad degree in environmental science, making it the 66th most popular major countrywide. [American Public University System](/colleges/american-public-university-system)​ awarded 269 of those degrees (#1 in the nation), and institutions in California conferred more degrees than any U.S. State (1,160).

 Finding the right fit for you will probably not be easy, seeing as four-year degrees in environmental science are offered at 496 colleges across the country. There are 2.6 institutions offering bachelor's degrees in environmental science for every college offering the average degree, making it the 40th most widely available degree in the United States of America.

 ### GRADUATE DEGREES

 While in the neighborhood of 6 out of every 7 degrees in environmental science last year were undergrad degrees; 13% were graduate degrees. Environmental science is the 114th most popular grad degree in America, with 1,126 degrees conferred.  Undergrad degrees in environmental science are offered completely remotely at 10 institutions around the nation, making it the 40th most broadly offered remote degree in the United States of America. Only 2 percent of colleges giving out the degree even have a remote option, and 40% of the schools that have the degree remotely are public. The remaining 60% are private. Missouri has the most remote programs of any state, with 2 colleges to choose from.
