ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE DEGREES

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

For a college subject, environmental science is moderately popular. Each area of study confers close to 6,000 four-year degrees per year; 7,289 people last May received an undergrad degree in environmental science, making it the 66th most popular major countrywide. American Public University System awarded 269 of those degrees (#1 in the nation), and institutions in California conferred more degrees than any U.S. State (1,160).

Finding the right fit for you will probably not be easy, seeing as four-year degrees in environmental science are offered at 496 colleges across the country. There are 2.6 institutions offering bachelor's degrees in environmental science for every college offering the average degree, making it the 40th most widely available degree in the United States of America.

GRADUATE DEGREES

While in the neighborhood of 6 out of every 7 degrees in environmental science last year were undergrad degrees; 13% were graduate degrees. Environmental science is the 114th most popular grad degree in America, with 1,126 degrees conferred. For context, the average subject is 2.5 times more popular among postgrads than environmental science.

In Total, 8,415 students received a bachelor's or higher in environmental science last spring.

ONLINE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE DEGREES

502 of those 8,415 students (6%) came out of online programs - 476 undergraduates and 26 postgraduate students. As you probably can see, among totally remote undergraduates, environmental science is neither especially popular nor exceedingly unpopular. It's now the 56th most in-demand online subject with 1.1% less remote students than the average subject. For master's or doctor's students, it is ranked 196th, and is 95.8% below the national average (616).

American Public University System conferred more online undergrad degrees in environmental science than any other U.S. school (269).

Further, Colleges from West Virginia awarded the most online bachelor's degrees in environmental science last spring (269). West Virginia independently graduates 57% of the United States' online students.

6.5% of all undergraduate degrees in environmental science are completed remote, (2.3% for graduate degrees). 4.58% of American Public University System's last undergraduate class studied environmental science online, higher than any other school in the nation. 269 students in their 5,873 student class received an online bachelor's degree in environmental science. They offer 100% of their degrees online, and had 37,335 enrolled online college students last fall. That's 100% of the student body.

Undergrad degrees in environmental science are offered completely remotely at 10 institutions around the nation, making it the 40th most broadly offered remote degree in the United States of America. Only 2 percent of colleges giving out the degree even have a remote option, and 40% of the schools that have the degree remotely are public. The remaining 60% are private. Missouri has the most remote programs of any state, with 2 colleges to choose from.

If you wish to study environmental science and really enjoy the flexibility of online learning, you might want to consider Boston University, as it has the 24th best environmental science program in the USA. They also grant an additional 32 degrees online, so their systems are presumably dependable. Further, 74 online undergraduates study at the school.
