POPULARITY
Speech-language pathology is the 171st most popular degree in America, with 1,568 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #172 Respiratory Care Therapy, and narrowly lost to #170 Industrial and Product Design.
The degree is offered at a total of 59 colleges across the nation, and is the 249th most widely offered degree. It is not offered at any of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 56% of colleges offering speech language pathology are public making it a pretty accessible field.
The far west produces the most speech language pathology graduates, largely led by California State University-Long Beach, while it’s the Mountain West Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, California ranks highest, with particular help from California State University-Long Beach and San Diego State University.
All that being said, no individual school produces more speech language pathology graduates than Alabama A & M University, which graduated 117 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study speech language pathology). More students studied speech language pathology as a percentage of total students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Fajardo than any other college.
