If you think life as a social science teacher, social science tutor, or social science instructor sounds interesting, then a degree in social science teacher education may just be for you. You could even become a political science teacher at an ivy league!

DEGREE STATS

Social science teacher education is the 286th most popular degree in America, with 473 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #287 Music Therapy, and narrowly lost to #285 Latin American Studies

The degree is offered at a total of 117 colleges across the nation, and is the 143rd most widely offered degree. It is not offered at any of the Top 100 Best Collegesin America.

It is also worth noting that 49% of colleges offering social science teacher education are public making it a pretty accessible field.

The southeast produces the most social science teacher education graduates, largely led by University of Central Florida, while it’s the American Athletic Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Florida ranks highest, with particular help from University of Central Floridaand Florida State University.

All that being said, no individual school produces more social science teacher education graduates than Grand Canyon University, which graduated 46 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study social science teacher education). More students studied social science teacher education as a percentage of total students at Wayne State Collegethan any other college.
