Physical therapy is the 302nd most popular degree in America, with 385 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #303 Non-Profit Management.
The degree is offered at a total of 28 colleges across the nation, and is the 349th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 1% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 48% of colleges offering physical therapy are public making it a pretty accessible field.
The mid east produces the most physical therapy graduates, largely led by Ithaca College, while it’s the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association that leads conference totals. As far as states, Massachusetts ranks highest, with particular help from Northeastern University and Springfield College.
All that being said, no individual school produces more physical therapy graduates than University of Alabama at Birmingham, which graduated 87 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study physical therapy). More students studied physical therapy as a percentage of total students at Springfield College than any other college.
