POPULARITY

Peace studies and conflict resolution is the 255th most popular degree in America, with 609 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #256 Agricultural Public Services, and narrowly lost to #254 Music Technology.

The degree is offered at a total of 63 colleges across the nation, and is the 234th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 11% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 23% of colleges offering peace studies and conflict resolution are public making it a relatively inaccessible field.

The southeast produces the most peace studies and conflict resolution graduates, largely led by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, while it’s the Atlantic Coast Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, North Carolina ranks highest, with particular help from Guilford College and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

All that being said, no individual school produces more peace studies and conflict resolution graduates than University of San Diego, which graduated 128 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study peace studies and conflict resolution). More students studied peace studies and conflict resolution as a percentage of total students at Earlham College than any other college.
