POPULARITY

Music technology is the 254th most popular degree in America, with 617 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #255 Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and narrowly lost to #253 Fine and Studio Arts Management.

The degree is offered at a total of 62 colleges across the nation, and is the 237th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 7% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 47% of colleges offering music technology are public making it a pretty accessible field.

The southeast produces the most music technology graduates, largely led by Full Sail University, while it’s the New Jersey Athletic Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Florida ranks highest, with particular help from Bethune-Cookman University and Full Sail University.

All that being said, no individual school produces more music technology graduates than Scottsdale Community College, which graduated 268 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study music technology). More students studied music technology as a percentage of total students at Kent State University at Stark than any other college.
