College can be a supremely revelatory investment in one's life; it is a time for personal growth and expansion. Scholars begin to discover what they can be and develop the necessary skills to become a thriving member of society. But learning is not confined to the classroom - the campus dialogue, the life lesson received from an old instructor, the exposure to a different point of view. Therefore, a diverse campus vastly improves what one gains from the time spent at school.

Music Teacher Education is in the bottom 10% of subjects for racial diversity*. 81% of the US' Music Teacher Education majors are white students, followed by latino students (8%), black students (4%), and students of other races**(4%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is Oklahoma City University located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Furthermore, Music Teacher Education significatly skews female, with three fifths of students majoring in Music Teacher Education identifying as women. Morningside College in Sioux City, IA has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another important type of diversity is financial diversity.
