College can be a particularly poignant period in one's life; it is an occasion for personal growth and evolution. Students continue to discover who they are and develop many of the underlying skills to be a halcyon adult. But growth isn't completely confined to a classroom environment - the late nights discussing Duchamp with a peer, the wild anecdote gained from an eccentric instructor, the exposure to a different way of viewing the world. As such, a diverse student population greatly improves what one gains from the time spent at college.
