POPULARITY
Italian language and literature is the 327th most popular degree in America, with 289 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #328 Botany.
The degree is offered at a total of 114 colleges across the nation, and is the 148th most widely offered degree. Given that italian language and literature is offered at 38% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America, you can be sure this is a critical degree and the skillsets acquired are likely to last for a long time.
It is also worth noting that a shade north of five ninths of colleges offering italian language and literature are public making it a pretty accessible field.
The mid east produces the most italian language and literature graduates, largely led by Binghamton University, while it’s the Atlantic Coast Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, New York ranks highest, with particular help from Binghamton University and University at Buffalo.
All that being said, no individual school produces more italian language and literature graduates than City College of San Francisco, which graduated 13 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study italian language and literature). More students studied italian language and literature as a percentage of total students at Vassar College than any other college.
