College often is an awfully constructive investment in one's life; it's a chance for individual progress and evolution. Undergrads start to find out who they want to become and cultivate many of the needed skills to be a thriving member of society. But learning is more than sitting in a classroom environment - the discussions which one has with their schoolmates, the nugget of wisdom gained from an eccentric instructor, the exposure to a different way of looking it. Therefore, a diverse univeristy experience greatly enhances what you gain from your time in college.

Information Technology is a more popular subject for students of color than white students. 45% of the United States' Information Technology majors are white students, followed by students of other races**(19%), asian students (13%), and black students (12%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is La Salle University&nbspin Philadelphia, PA.

In addition, Information Technology significatly skews male, with 73% of students majoring in Information Technology identifying as men. The most gender balanced school in the top 100 is Renton Technical College in Renton, WA.

Another important type of diversity is income diversity. Information Technology ranks somewhere around average for financial diversity (47th percentile). 29% of its majors come from low income households, 16% are from households earning between $48,000 and $75,000 a year, and 25% grew up in very high income households. Vermont Technical College has the most socioeconomically diverse student body in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall NY is the most diverse state for Information Technology. The Mid East is the most diverse region, and the Western Athletic Conference is the most diverse conference.
