2023 French Language and Literature Students

College is one of the most formative periods of one's life; it is a time for individual growth and expansion. Undergrads start to figure out who they would like to be and learn the rudimentary skills to be a prosperous adult. But growth is more than what one learns in a classroom environment - the campus dialogue, the funny story gained from an old professor, the exposure to a different interpretation of the situation. As such, finding a diverse college tremendously enriches what you gain from your time at university.

French Language and Literature is a slightly more ethnically diverse major than average*. 63% of America's French Language and Literature majors are white students, followed by students of other races**(16%), latino students (10%), and black students (6%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is University of Connecticut&nbspin Storrs, CT.

In addition, French Language and Literature significatly skews female, with 3 out of every 4 students majoring in French Language and Literature identifying as women. University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another critical type of diversity is economic diversity. Unfortunately, French Language and Literature is less socioeconomically diverse than 83% of subjects in the nation. 34% of its students come from households earning north of $110,000 a year, 15% are from families taking in between $48,000 and $75,000 a year, and 22% grew up in households with a sub $30,000 annual income. University of North Texas has the most economically diverse students in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall HI is the most diverse state for French Language and Literature. The Far West is the most diverse region, and the Midwest Conference is the most diverse conference.
