INTRODUCTION

If you think life as an internet retailer, textile designer, or fashion event coordinator sounds interesting, then a degree in fashion merchandising may just be for you. You could even become the fashion representative who makes a brand what it is!

DEGREE STATS

Fashion merchandising is the 125th most popular degree in America, with 2,545 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #126 Legal Studies, and narrowly lost to #124 Construction Management

The degree is offered at a total of 79 colleges across the nation, and is the 206th most widely offered degree. It is not offered at any of the Top 100 Best Collegesin America.

It is also worth noting that practically 3/7 of colleges offering fashion merchandising are public making it a pretty accessible field.

The mid east produces the most fashion merchandising graduates, largely led by Fashion Institute of Technology, while it’s the Mid-American Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, New York ranks highest, with particular help from Fashion Institute of Technologyand LIM College.

All that being said, no individual school produces more fashion merchandising graduates than Phoenix College, which graduated 437 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study fashion merchandising). More students studied fashion merchandising as a percentage of total students at LIM Collegethan any other college.
