POPULARITY

Family and community services is the 208th most popular degree in America, with 1,063 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #209 African-American Studies, and narrowly lost to #207 Urban Studies.

The degree is offered at a total of 33 colleges across the nation, and is the 328th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 3% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that around five out of every eight colleges offering family and community services are public making it a quite accessible field.

The southeast produces the most family and community services graduates, largely led by John Brown University, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Michigan ranks highest, with particular help from Baker College and Michigan State University.

All that being said, no individual school produces more family and community services graduates than Amridge University, which graduated 149 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study family and community services). More students studied family and community services as a percentage of total students at Baker College than any other college.
