College often can be an immensely influential time of one's life; it is an occasion for personal progress and maturation. Pupils start to ascertain what they want to become and forge many of the indispensable skills to become a successful adult. But growth is more than sitting in a classroom - the campus dialogue, the nugget of wisdom gained from an eccentric professor, the exposure to a different way of thinking. As such, a diverse student experience tremendously enhances what you gain from your time spent in school.

English Teacher Education is in the bottom 10% of subjects for ethnic diversity*. 80% of America's English Teacher Education majors are white students, followed by latino students (11%), students of other races**(4%), and black students (3%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is St John's University-New York located in Queens, NY.

Additionally, English Teacher Education skews very heavily female, more so approximately 6/7 of subjects. More or less 80% of students majoring in English Teacher Education identify as women. Bethel University in Saint Paul, MN has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another critical type of diversity is wealth diversity. English Teacher Education is more financially diverse than 83% of programs. 26% of its majors come from homes earning below $30,000 a year, 16% are from households that earn between $48,000 and $75,000 a year, and 26% grew up in families with $110,000 plus annual incomes. Hardin-Simmons University is the most financially diverse school in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall TX is the most diverse state for English Teacher Education. The Southwest is the most diverse region, and the University Athletic Association is the most diverse conference.
