POPULARITY

Engineering technologies is the 29th most popular degree in America, with 19,475 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #30 Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and narrowly lost to #28 Natural Resources and Conservation.

The degree is offered at a total of 404 colleges across the nation, and is the 56th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 14% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that practically 5/6ths of colleges offering engineering technologies are public making it a very accessible field.

The southeast produces the most engineering technologies graduates, largely led by East Carolina University, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, New York ranks highest, with particular help from CUNY New York City College of Technology and Rochester Institute of Technology.

All that being said, no individual school produces more engineering technologies graduates than Central Alabama Community College, which graduated 673 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study engineering technologies). More students studied engineering technologies as a percentage of total students at Bakersfield College than any other college.
