POPULARITY

Emergency medical technology is the 314th most popular degree in America, with 323 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It narrowly lost to #313 Selling Skills and Sales Operations.

The degree is offered at a total of 31 colleges across the nation, and is the 337th most widely offered degree. It is not offered at any of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 92% of colleges offering emergency medical technology are public making it a very accessible field.

The southeast produces the most emergency medical technology graduates, largely led by Eastern Kentucky University, while it’s the Southern Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Alabama ranks highest, with particular help from University of South Alabama and Columbia Southern University.

All that being said, no individual school produces more emergency medical technology graduates than Coastal Alabama Community College, which graduated 53 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study emergency medical technology). More students studied emergency medical technology as a percentage of total students at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio than any other college.
