POPULARITY

Clinical laboratory science is the 115th most popular degree in America, with 2,944 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #116 Bible Studies, and narrowly lost to #114 Industrial Production Technologies.

The degree is offered at a total of 300 colleges across the nation, and is the 74th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 3% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 70% of colleges offering clinical laboratory science are public making it a quite accessible field.

The great lakes produces the most clinical laboratory science graduates, largely led by Michigan State University, while it’s the American Athletic Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, New York ranks highest, with particular help from CUNY Hunter College and CUNY York College.

All that being said, no individual school produces more clinical laboratory science graduates than University of California-Davis, which graduated 158 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study clinical laboratory science). More students studied clinical laboratory science as a percentage of total students at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences than any other college.
