POPULARITY
Business is the 23rd most popular degree in America, with 25,818 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #24 Kinesiology and Exercise Science, and narrowly lost to #22 History.
The degree is offered at a total of 421 colleges across the nation, and is the 52nd most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 18% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 66% of colleges offering business are public making it a quite accessible field.
The southeast produces the most business graduates, largely led by University of Central Florida, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Indiana ranks highest, with particular help from Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis and Indiana University-Bloomington.
All that being said, no individual school produces more business graduates than Shelton State Community College, which graduated 2026 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study business). More students studied business as a percentage of total students at Strayer University-Mississippi than any other college.
