College can be a very constructive period of one's life; it's a chance for personal progress and maturation. Scholars continue to find out what they want to do with their lives and build many of the needed skills to be a successful adult. But growth is deeper than what one learns in the classroom - the discussions one has with their peers, the life lesson learned from an old instructor, the exposure to a different take on things. As such, finding a diverse college greatly enriches what one gains from the time spent in college.

Botany is a less racially diverse subject than average*. 67% of the US' Botany majors are white students, followed by students of other races**(19%), latino students (8%), and asian students (4%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is University of California-Riverside&nbspin Riverside, CA.

In addition, Botany is highly diverse when it comes to sex, with 53% of students majoring in Botany identifying as women. The most gender balanced school in the top 100 is Ohio University-Main Campus in Athens, OH.

Another substantial type of diversity is class diversity. Botany is the 40th most financially diverse focus in the nation. 27% of its students come from homes that earn north of $110,000 a year, 17% are from families that take home between $48,000 and $75,000 a year, and 25% grew up in households taking in under $30,000 a year. University of Vermont has the most economically diverse student body in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall HI is the most diverse state for Botany. The Far West is the most diverse region, and the Big West Conference is the most diverse conference.
