College often is a vastly revelatory investment in one's life; it is a chance for personal growth and evolution. Undergraduates continue to learn their calling and cultivate many of the essential skills to be a prosperous member of society. But growth also happens outside the classroom - the late nights discussing Margaret Thatcher with a peer, the funny story gained from a tenured professor, the exposure to a different take on things. As such, finding a diverse college vastly enriches what one gains from the time at college.

Art Teacher Education is in the bottom 10% of subjects for racial diversity*. 81% of the nation's Art Teacher Education majors are white students, followed by latino students (8%), students of other races**(4%), and asian students (3%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is Pratt Institute-Main located in Brooklyn, NY.

Secondly, Art Teacher Education very highly skews female, more so 93% of subjects. Practically seven out of eight students majoring in Art Teacher Education identify as women. Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another important type of diversity is financial diversity. Art Teacher Education is the 26th most economically diverse subject in America. 27% of its students come from very high income households, 17% are from mid-income families, and 24% grew up in households who bring in less than $30,000 a year. University of Maine has the most socioeconomically diverse students in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall KY is the most diverse state for Art Teacher Education. The Southwest is the most diverse region, and the Pacific-12 Conference is the most diverse conference.
