College often is one of the more productive times of one's life; it's an opportunity for individual progress and development. Pupils begin to figure out what they can be and build many of the must-have skills to be a flourishing adult. But growth goes beyond a classroom environment - the campus dialogue, the funny story learned from an eccentric professor, the exposure to a different viewpoint. As such, attending a diverse college tremendously enhances what one gains from the time spent in college.

Applied Psychology is a slightly more ethnically diverse subject than average*. 60% of the US' Applied Psychology majors are white students, followed by latino students (16%), black students (9%), and students of other races**(9%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is New York University located in New York, NY.

Furthermore, Applied Psychology significatly skews female, with 78% of students majoring in Applied Psychology identifying as women. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Daytona Beach in Daytona Beach, FL has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another important type of diversity is wealth diversity. Unfortunately, Applied Psychology is one of the United States' least economically diverse subjects (Bottom 29%). 31% of its majors come from high income families, 15% are from families with $48,000 to $75,000 annual incomes, and 25% grew up in families earning under $30,000 a year. Oregon Institute of Technology has the most economically diverse student body in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall IL is the most diverse state for Applied Psychology. The Mid East is the most diverse region, and the University Athletic Association is the most diverse conference.
