POPULARITY
Apparel and textiles is the 123rd most popular degree in America, with 2,638 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #124 Construction Management, and narrowly lost to #122 Dance.
The degree is offered at a total of 83 colleges across the nation, and is the 194th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 5% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 87% of colleges offering apparel and textiles are public making it a very accessible field.
The southeast produces the most apparel and textiles graduates, largely led by University of Arkansas, while it’s the Southeastern Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, California ranks highest, with particular help from Academy of Art University and California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.
All that being said, no individual school produces more apparel and textiles graduates than College of Alameda, which graduated 150 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study apparel and textiles). More students studied apparel and textiles as a percentage of total students at Academy of Art University than any other college.
