POPULARITY
Animal sciences is the 69th most popular degree in America, with 6,605 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #70 Earth Sciences, and narrowly lost to #68 Social Sciences.
The degree is offered at a total of 93 colleges across the nation, and is the 180th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 4% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.
It is also worth noting that 89% of colleges offering animal sciences are public making it a very accessible field.
The southeast produces the most animal sciences graduates, largely led by University of Florida, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, California ranks highest, with particular help from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and California State University-Chico.
All that being said, no individual school produces more animal sciences graduates than Santa Fe College, which graduated 283 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study animal sciences). More students studied animal sciences as a percentage of total students at Delaware Valley University than any other college.
