But growth goes far beyond the classroom - the campus dialogue, the life lesson gained from a tenured professor, the exposure to a different outlook. As such, a diverse campus vastly improves what you gain from your time in university.

Agricultural Teacher Education is in the bottom 10% of subjects for ethnic diversity*. 84% of the nation's Agricultural Teacher Education majors are white students, followed by latino students (8%), black students (4%), and students of other races**(4%). The most racially diverse college* in the top 100 is University of California-Davis&nbspin Davis, CA.

Second, Agricultural Teacher Education significatly skews female, with something like 5 in every 7 students majoring in Agricultural Teacher Education identifying as women. Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, LA has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another significant type of diversity is income diversity. Agricultural Teacher Education is the 24th most economically diverse focus in America. 26% of its majors come from families with a sub $30,000 annual income, 17% are from families that bring in between $48,000 and $75,000 a year, and 25% grew up in families that take home over $110,000 a year.
