INTRODUCTION

If you think life as a senior aeronautical engineer, aerospace engineer, or propulsion engineer sounds interesting, then a degree in aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering may just be for you. You could even become an engineer working to make efficient and reusable mars rockets!

POPULARITY

Aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering is the 82nd most popular degree in America, with 4,887 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #83 Computer and Information Systems Security, and narrowly lost to #81 Graphic Design.

The degree is offered at a total of 72 colleges across the nation, and is the 220th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 17% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 70% of colleges offering aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering are public making it a quite accessible field.

The southeast produces the most aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering graduates, largely led by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Daytona Beach, while it’s the Big Ten Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, California ranks highest, with particular help from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.

All that being said, no individual school produces more aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering graduates than California Institute of Technology, which graduated 224 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering). More students studied aerospace aeronautical and astronautical engineering as a percentage of total students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott than any other college.

Good luck finding the right college for you. We hope you enjoy Authority's 2022 official Best Colleges for Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering list. Some of our picks may surprise you!
