Benefits of Studying Online in Wyoming

Landlocked in the middle of several states, Wyoming is often seen as a western passage through the Rockies and Great Plains. With its 97,813 square miles of area, Wyoming leans on its roles of being an outdoor enthusiast paradise and a hotbed for natural resources. The Equality State is home to just under 600,000 people and is the 10th largest of any state in terms of square footage. The state's capitol (Cheyenne) is also the largest city and serves as the central commerce hub and agricultural core. Despite its small population, Wyoming is home to some of North America's most iconic attractions, including Yellowstone National Park, Devils Tower, Grand Teton National Park, and the Wind River Mountain Range.

Employment Stats

From an economic standpoint, the Equality State should not be overlooked. Despite its small population of just 0.2 percent of the nation, Wyoming still managed to rank at 50th out of all states in terms of employed persons. The state ranks 51st with28,400 employed persons (just 0.19% of the nation's total). Similarly, the state of Wyoming has grown its employed population by 1.75% over the last year, which was perhaps the 49th fastest of all states.

However, Wyoming still lagged behind the national median, as it had just under 1.7 million fewer people employed than the median state (an 86% difference). It also comes in second to last, edging out the least populated state of Vermont, which had just 302,000 employed persons at the time (or 17,000 less than Wyoming). That number is relatively small considering that Wyoming still had about 98% less people employed than America's leader, California.

Job Opportunities

The state of Wyoming is a great place to study, especially if you’re looking for a unique college experience. The state is well known for its wide open spaces and natural beauty. Even so, the state isn’t perfect when it comes to job opportunities. Wyoming has fewer than 500 unique job types (515 to be exact), giving it the rank of being the nation’s 50th largest employer in terms of job diversity. This means the state is at a -28.7% disadvantage when compared to the national median of 722 job types. Louisiana is a good representation of the national median, having 722 unique occupations.

Wyoming is home to several incredible universities, the highest ranked of which is the University of Wyoming located in the city of Laramie. The school is home to more than 12,000 students and has some of the most advanced research programs in the nation. Other impressive universities include Northwest College and Casper College. The state is also home to several Fortune 500 companies, including Koch Industries and Cloud Peak Energy.

In summary, Wyoming remains one of the top epicenters for outdoor recreation and a great option for students eager to explore the outdoors. In addition, it also offers an array of employment opportunities that should be taken advantage of, given its largely untapped labor potential.
