Benefits of Studying Online in Nevada

Nevada, also known as the Silver State, the Sagebrush State, and even the Battle Born State, is the 32nd most populus state with just over 3 million people calling it home. Despite it's relatively small size Nevada possesses the 7th largest land area, totalling more than 110,000 square miles. It's most well known city, Las Vegas, has quickly risen to become the world's top tourist destination with it's abundance of casino's, high end hotels, and renown entertainment.

Employment Stats

When it comes to employment stats, Nevada is far from a slouch. This state has a total of 1,471,800 employed citizens as of October 2022, ranking as the 32nd highest of any state in America. It's employment population accounts for just under 1% of the entire nation. Since 2021, Nevada has added nearly 56,000 jobs, an increase of 3.92%, making it the 13th fastest growing state when it comes to job growth. Nonetheless, the state boasts more than 505,000 fewer employed people than the national median (a margin of -26%), which is a bit concerning if you consider that Nevada houses just 0.9% of the nation's population.

The Silver State just narrowly edged out Kansas for the 32nd spot, with Nevada reporting 58,000 more employed citizens than Kansas (4.1% higher). Conversely, Nevada just fell short to Iowa for the 31st spot, as Iowa reported 1.585 million employed people (equating to a -7.1% difference). That being said, no matter which way you look at the numbers Nevada still fell quire short of the nation's leader (-92%), although it's not terribly surprising given it's tiny population.

Job Opportunities

Nevada is a state full of surprises - from its world-famous Las Vegas strip to its stunning mountain ranges and endless desert. But that’s not all Nevada has to offer, as the state also has a quickly growing job market. With 672 job types spread across a range of industries, Nevada has one of the lower counts in terms of the number of occupations it offers, but it still ranks at 36th in the nation. This means that although it’s -6.9% below the median of 722, there’s still a healthy selection of occupations to choose from.

Given Nevada’s expansive landscape and growing job market, the state has become an increasing attractive destination for college students, hosting a number of high-ranking universities and colleges. University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and the University of Nevada, Reno are the two most popular, both having more than 20,000 students enrolled in a given semester. In addition, there are several prestigious private universities, such as Dixie State University and the College of Southern Nevada, and various community and technical colleges.

Nevada is also home to a number of Fortune 500 companies, such as Wynn Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, and MGM Resorts International. In addition, the state has numerous other large companies, such as Switch, Allegiant Air, and Bigelow Aerospace. Nevada’s job market also extends to the hospitality industry and the service industry, making it the perfect destination for students looking to gain experience while they study.

In conclusion, the state of Nevada has a lot to offer the would-be student in terms of educational and recreational cuilture. Moreover, although it's small population may hinder total potential opporutnies, it's still growing quicker than most and is expected to continue in that trend in the coming years. In particular, the city of Las Vegas provides ample of job opportunities (if you're willing to take on the risk) as the biggest hot bed of the regions tourism industry.
