Benefits of Studying Online in Connecticut
Connecticut, otherwise known as the Nutmeg State is America's 29th largest state in terms of population, with nearly 3.6 million people. Although it ranks as the 48th most square footage (5,543), Connecticut still provides access to plenty of outdoor recreation and a variety of cultural attractions. The capitol of Hartford is the largest city, and serves as the ideal location for a wide range of businesses and educational institutions.
Employment Stats
In terms of economic health, as of October 2022, Connecticut had 1.6 million non-farm employees (the 30th most of any state), making it accounting for just 1.9% of the nation’s workforce. Nearly 37,000 new jobs were added since 2021, when the total tallied 1.6 million. This increase of 2.2% may not be the largest in the nation (Connecticut ranked 41st in this regard), but nonetheless provides an upward trend that is expected to continue into in the future. Comparing Connecticut to the median state shows that it still falls short of the median by 309,000 jobs (a negative percentage difference of -16%).
Although Connecticut just lost out to Utah (by 12k, or -0.7%), it managed to beat out Iowa, which ranked 31st with 1.6 million employed. Connecticut leads this duel by a notch of 84,000 or 5.3%. That being said, it did fell a massive 91% short of the nation leader (California)). Still, with a national average of 1.1%, Connecticut is no pushover, and is certainly worth considering for study if the Nutmeg state is of interest.
Job Opportunities
Concerning unique job types, Connecticut offers 691 individual areas of expertise, giving the state -4.3% fewer occupations than the national median of 722. While that may seem like a slight disadvantage to some students, the median is held by Louisiana, so if you’re looking for a large number of industries, Louisiana may be a better option.
So if you’re looking for a slightly more rural setting with a good balance of job quantity and diversity, Connecticut may be the right choice. The state’s highest ranked school is Yale University, which consistently ranks in the top 15 schools in America. Additionally, the University of Connecticut is also an excellent choice, often entering the top 25 of national universities. These are typically the two most attended institutions in the state, but there are a variety of other options available.
