Spanish language teacher education is the 323rd most popular degree in America, with 295 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It narrowly lost to #322 Gerontology.

The degree is offered at a total of 215 colleges across the nation, and is the 96th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 2% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 46% of colleges offering spanish language teacher education are public making it a pretty accessible field.

The great lakes produces the most spanish language teacher education graduates, largely led by University of Illinois at Chicago, while it’s the Independent Southeast Region that leads conference totals. As far as states, New York ranks highest, with particular help from College of Staten Island CUNY and CUNY Queens College.

All that being said, no individual school produces more spanish language teacher education graduates than Quinnipiac University, which graduated 19 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study spanish language teacher education). More students studied spanish language teacher education as a percentage of total students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo than any other college.
