2023 Physiological Psychology Students

College can be an extremely revelatory period of one's life; it is an occasion for individual growth and expansion. Undergraduates attempt to learn who they would like to become and forge many of the needed skills to be a successful member of society. But learning also happens outside a classroom - the late nights discussing Robert Heinlein with a peer, the personal lesson received from a tenured professor, the exposure to a different view. Therefore, attending a diverse college tremendously enriches what one gains from the time spent in school.

Physiological Psychology is the 8th most diverse subject *. It has the 9th largest share of white students. 39% of the nation's Physiological Psychology majors are white students, followed by asian students (27%), latino students (20%), and students of other races**(8%). The most ethnically diverse college* in the top 100 is Florida Atlantic University located in Boca Raton, FL.

In addition, Physiological Psychology significatly skews female, with approximately two thirds of students majoring in Physiological Psychology identifying as women. Utica College in Utica, NY has the most gender balanced student body in the top 100.

Another important type of diversity is income diversity. Physiological Psychology ranks somewhere around the median for socioeconomic diversity (45th percentile). 30% of its students come from homes earning less than $30,000 a year, 17% are from families with $30,000 to $48,000 annual incomes, and 24% grew up in homes with $110,000 plus annual incomes. Northwest Missouri State University is the most fiscally diverse school in the top 100.

Considering each type of diversity, overall CA is the most diverse state for Physiological Psychology. The Southeast is the most diverse region, and the Big West Conference is the most diverse conference.
