Health teacher education is the 192nd most popular degree in America, with 1,250 students receiving their bachelors degree last year. It just beat out #193 Web Design, and narrowly lost to #191 Industrial Management.

The degree is offered at a total of 115 colleges across the nation, and is the 145th most widely offered degree. It is only offered at 1% of the Top 100 Best Colleges in America.

It is also worth noting that 65% of colleges offering health teacher education are public making it a quite accessible field.

The southeast produces the most health teacher education graduates, largely led by Morehead State University, while it’s the Atlantic 10 Conference that leads conference totals. As far as states, Virginia ranks highest, with particular help from George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University.

All that being said, no individual school produces more health teacher education graduates than Southern Connecticut State University, which graduated 361 students last year alone. Although size is critical, another important factor to consider is the program’s density (the percent of all students that study health teacher education). More students studied health teacher education as a percentage of total students at Virginia Commonwealth University than any other college.
